Cape Town – President Cyril Ramaphosa has offered his condolence messages following disasters that killed hundreds of people in South Korea, India and Somalia.
The three countries were hit by different disasters over the weekend.
On Monday the president’s spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said that Ramaphosa had sent a message to South Korea President Yoon Suk-yeol after at least 150 young people were killed in a stampede during Halloween festivities in Seoul on Saturday night.
“President Ramaphosa said the people of South Africa join the people of South Korea in mourning the lives lost in the tragic incident,” Magwenya said in a statement.

He said that more than 140 people perished in India when a bridge collapsed in the state of Gujarat during Diwali festivities, while in Somalia an explosion in the capital, Mogadishu left 100 people dead with score reported injured.
“The thoughts of the people of South Africa are with the Indian and Somali families that have lost their loved ones,” said Ramaphosa.
He also wished speedy recoveries to those injured.
