Cape Town – A missing four-year-old girl from Paarl in the Western Cape was reportedly found dead on Monday.
Reports said the little girl, who went missing on Sunday afternoon, was found in the bushes by local primary school pupils.
She had injuries to her body.
According to police spokesperson, Captain Frederick van Wyk, the child was reported missing at around 16:00.
“A search party was arranged and on Monday afternoon scholars at a primary school found her body in the bushes next to the school’s rugby field. The deceased was found with injuries to her body. A murder investigation has been opened,” TimesLIVE quoted Van Wyk as saying.

Meanwhile, IOL reported that the little girl, who has since been identified as Tamia Botha, was not the only child who died violently over the weekend.
The report said that police found the body of an eight-year-old boy in a bush on Welteevrede Road in Philippi, Cape Town on Monday afternoon.
The boy, who has not been identified, was found with his hands and feet bound with tape, and his mouth and chin covered with tape, while his eyelids had been taped closed, the report said.
“A murder docket was opened for investigation and a post-mortem is to be conducted to determine the cause of death,” the report quoted Van Wyk said.
