Cape Town – Member of the African National Congress (ANC) national executive committee and former spokesperson Pule Mabe has reportedly surrendered to police and is set to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on charges of corruption.
According to IOL, the allegations involve a R27 million tender awarded to his company, Enviro Mobi, in 2017, during which he allegedly failed to declare his ownership while serving as a member of Parliament.
The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) found that Enviro Mobi misrepresented itself during the tender bidding process, the reort said.
The tender was awarded by the Gauteng department of agriculture and rural development to supply tuk-tuks for waste collection, intended to benefit local waste pickers.
This case follows the earlier court appearance of Mabe’s predecessor, Zizi Kodwa, who faces similar corruption charges related to contract awards during his tenure.
His case has been postponed to October 24, with his bail conditions extended.
Both Mabe and Kodwa’s legal troubles reflect ongoing scrutiny of corruption within the ANC.
