Cape Town – A prominent physiotherapist from Gqeberha, Marolien Schmidt, 40, was tragically stabbed to death in her Richmond Hill home, reports said on Wednesday.
A family friend confirmed the news. The friend also acknowledged the heartfelt tributes posted on her Facebook page.
The incident occurred around 1:40am on 9 August.in Sherlock Street, with neighbours hearing her screams and glass breaking.
“They (neighbours) immediately responded and found her lying on the floor with stab wounds. She was rushed to hospital but succumbed to her injuries,” PE Express quoted police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg as saying.
She revealed that the perpetrator gained entry by breaking a side window, and their motive remains unclear.
Schmidt was well-known locally for her work at the Walmer Wellness Centre

This shocking murder has deeply affected the Richmond Hill community.
According to Algoa FM, Schmidt completed her high school education at Hoër Volkskool in Graaff-Reinet and graduated from Stellenbosch University in 2005 with her qualification.
Operating her practice from Walmer, she was a beloved physiotherapist, the report said.
The details of the stolen items remain uncertain, as authorities are actively investigating a murder case.
