Cape Town – Professor Dire Tladi is set to be sworn in as a new Member of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), making him the first South African to serve in this capacity.
Tladi’s election followed several ballots in the UN General Assembly and the Security Council.
During the public sitting, Tladi and four other justices will make a solemn declaration to exercise their powers impartially and conscientiously, with their nine-year terms beginning on the same day.
