Cape Town – A Pretoria bookkeeper has reportedly been sentenced to 10 years in prison for fraud after she pocketed R2.5 million from her employer.
Dianne de Beer, 49, spent the money on a holiday in Bali, luxury vehicles, clothing and groceries, according to reports.
News24 reported that DeBeer was convicted of 44 counts of fraud amounting to R2.5 million between 2016 and 2019.
With the proceeds of the crime, De Beer bought a BMW for herself and a Mini Cooper for her daughter. She also funded her daughter’s holiday in Bali, and spend the rest of the money on entertainment, clothing and groceries, the report said.
Her BMW has been seized and will be sold on auction, the National Prosecuting Authority said.
