Cape Town — The South African Police Services (SAPS) believes it has found the firearms used in the killing of the eighteen victims in the Lusikisiki massacre in the Eastern Cape.
Through intelligence and outstanding detective work, the firearms were found on Thursday evening and investigations found that the firearms were moved to another location following the killings, a statement read.
Two more suspects have been arrested after they were found to own these rifles. The pair was arrested in Flagstaff in the Eastern Cape.
“The high calibre firearms have been taken in for ballistics testing to determine and confirm that they were indeed used in the commission of the crime and to also determine which other crime scenes can be linked to them,” police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said.

Minister and Deputy Ministers of Police, Senzo Mchunu, Polly Boshielo and Cassel Mathale and National Commissioner of SAPS, Fannie Masemola, have commended the investigating team for the breakthrough in the case.
According to eNCA, the four arrested suspects are expected to appear in court today
“The latest development in this case is that police have confirmed that two more suspects have been arrested and three- rifles have been seized. They were found in possession of the two suspects arrested last night,” it said.
