Polokwane – The body of a three-year-old boy was retrieved from a pit toilet in Tshino Ndiitwani village under the Vuwani Policing area in Vhembe District on Monday, December 05, South African Police Service (SAPS) confirmed in a statement.
According to police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the boy victim was last seen by his uncle on Sunday morning between 07:30 and 08:30.
The parents reported his abrupt disappearance to the Police. The Search and Rescue Unit, joined by the K9 Search Rescue Team, Provincial Search and Rescue Unit, EMS and the local Police conducted a search that lead to the boy’s discovery.

Ledwaba said that members had to dig the pit toilet to come to the boy.
“The Team conducted a search focusing inside the victim’s yard. This after the K9 reacted in the vicinity of the pit-toilet. The members then started digging the pit toilet after conducting tests to determine what might be inside. The body was subsequently found and was handed over to the local Police.”
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe called upon parents to take extra care of their children.
“These kinds of incidents can only be avoided if we as parents, exercise extra caution and care and look after our children at all times.” said Hadebe.
