Cape Town – Police in Soweto rescued a woman who was allegedly hijacked, kidnapped and held hostage on Valentine’s Day.
Three men who attempted to evade police were arrested on Tuesday, the police said.
Soweto flying squad officers were on routine patrol on Klipspruit West, Soweto when they spotted a silver VW Polo being driven recklessly, said police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo in a statement.
“Police gave chase and the Polo collided with another vehicle. Three men jumped out of the car and started running,

“Police cornered and apprehended all three suspects. On the back seat of the VW Polo, police found a female who had been hijacked in Katlehong and kept hostage,” said Masondo.
Suspects were charged with kidnapping and possession of a hijacked vehicle.
“They are expected to appear in the magistrate’s court in due course,” said Masondo.
