Cape Town — Police in Mpumalanga have arrested two suspects found in possession of dagga worth an estimated R1.2 million.
“According to a report, members of the Police from the White River Flying Squad Unit were conducting routine patrols when they spotted a white Toyota Quantum with two occupants. The vehicle was stopped by the members, and they searched. It was during this time when they discovered 50 compressed bags of dagga,” police spokesperson, Jabu Ndubane, said.
It was reported that the dagga weighed more than 1 000 kg. The suspects were both charged with dealing dagga and one of the suspects, who is from Eswatini, was charged with the contravention of Immigration Act of South Africa and was found without valid documentation in the country.

“The Police Investigators are working in collaboration with officials from the Department of Home Affairs and the suspects are expected to appear at the White River Magistrate’s Court soon,” Ndubane said.
Major General, Zeph Mkhwanazi, commended the officers for their vigilance to pull off the big bust.
“By now, suspects should know that there is no room that will be left out for perpetrators to commit crimes unabated. Our members will continue working tirelessly to ensure our roads are safe and free from criminal activities, ” Mkhwanazi said.
