Cape Town – Police in Lephalale are investigating a case of inquest after discovering the body of a 10-year-old boy in Limpopo.
The child was found in a shack, burnt beyond recognition, at Marapong Ext 3 Manamela Park Squatter camp on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at approximately 00:30.
The police received information about the burnt body of the young boy after his mother left him in another room with his 17-year-old sister.
Unfortunately, the sister left him alone at night, and it is still unclear what caused the fire that engulfed the shack.
“The police received information about the burnt body of a 10-year-old boy after the mother left him in another room with his 17-year-old sister, who later left him alone at night. It is still not yet known as to what has caused the fire.
“According to reports, Emergency Services and Police were summoned to the scene, and on their arrival they found the boy, deceased. He was certified dead at the scene, and identified as Moshi Matsobane Bradly,” police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said.
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe urged parents to take extra care for their children, particularly during the winter season.
She urged parents to always be aware of the whereabouts of their children, and not to leave fires unattended.
Police investigations are still continuing.
