Cape Town – The body of a woman was reportedly found on Camps Bay beach, just a week after reports said that a woman went missing after she went swimming.
The woman reportedly disappeared after she went into the water, leaving all her belongings behind,
According to EWN, the body was found in the early hours of Saturday morning. Camps Bay police spokesperson Keith Chandler said this was the third body to wash up on the beach since the beginning of the year.
Chandler said the person could have drowned at another beach and washed up on Camps Bay beach due to the current.
Police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi reported that a passer-by had spotted the body of the unknown woman on the beach, with medical personnel declaring her deceased when they arrived on the scene, IOL reported.

“Camps Bay police registered an inquest for further investigation. Anyone with information that can assist with the identification of the victim is kindly requested to call Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” the report quoted Swartbooi as saying.
Camps Bay Ward Councillor, Nicola Jowell, confirmed that the body found was not the same one as the woman who disappeared a week earlier. She said police were trying to identify the person and would cross-check it against any missing people reports.
“This is an unusual situation, there are not often bodies that are washed up, although it does happen from time to time and hopefully the police will be able to identify the lady and inform her family so they can have closure,” Jowell said.
