Cape Town – Police have opened an inquest docket to determine the cause of ANC MP and former energy minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson’s death
According to reports, the Department of Health will provide a final report on the cause of her death, which will only be disclosed to her family.
“An inquest docket has been registered and under investigation,” News24 quoted police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe as saying.
Inquest investigations are conducted when deaths are suspected to be non-natural, the report said.

Joemat-Pettersson died at her Rondebosch home on June 5, 2023.
Police have rubbished reports that her cause of death was unnatural, IOL reported.
“An autopsy report has been finalised and we are awaiting a final report from the Department of Health on the cause of death,” Mathe said, accoring to the report.
News24 reported that at the time of her death, Joemat-Pettersson was embroiled in the latest drama in suspended Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane’s impeachment saga.
