Cape Town – Police in the Free State have reportedly launched a manhunt for a 30-year-old suspect who allegedly killed his mother, Modiehi Khodumo, 65, and chopped her into pieces.
In a statement, police spokesperson Captain Phumelelo Dhlamini said the incident occurred sometime between Monday, May 6, 2022 and Tuesday, May 7, 2022 in Riverside.
Police found the human body parts inside a garage.
“Police responded to a murder scene and found the human body parts that had been cut into pieces inside the garage at Riverside.
“It is alleged that the husband of the deceased Mr Motsumi Joseph Mokoena arrived home and found his son inside the garage packing the remains of his mother inside the plastic bag.

“When he tried to enquire about what was happening the son took out a knife and stabbed him in the chest,” said Dhlamini.
Mokoena was admitted to Hospital with serious stab wounds.
“The suspect is 1, 5 m tall, with natural hair, has no bear and slender in body shape. He is 30-year-old and was last seen wearing a striped T shirt and black jeans,” said Dhlamini.
Cases of murder and attempted murder were opened.
Police urged anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to report to a nearest police station.
