Cape Town – A man was reportedly shot and wounded after he was allegedly found inside the SABC building in Bloemfontein in the early hours of Sunday.
According to SABC, the intruder was shot following a scuffle with the security.
“We were informed by our security personnel that a person came inside our building illegally. And for now, we are assuming that he used the emergency exit points to enter the building. And the person was confronted by our security guards and there was a shooting incident. The person is currently in hospital under police guards,” the report quoted the SABC’s Free State and Northern Cape regional operations manager, Mandla Mbusi, as saying.

Several suspicious parcels were seized from the suspect, the report said, adding that the Hawks and police bomb squad were called in to investigate.
A report by EWN, said the intruder vandalised the offices which are a national key point in the city with graffiti threatening the lives of presenters.
The incident happened as Bloemfontein police had been investigating alleged death threats against the station’s journalists, reportedly linked to their criticism of government officials, the report said.
