Cape Town — Police in Meyerton, Gauteng were shocked to discover three decomposed human bodies and two decomposed dog bodies inside a house in Suikerbos Street, Golf Park.
Police were alerted to the house by neighbours who had complained of a horrible stench coming from the house, and upon arrival at the house, found flies surrounding it, Meyerton police spokesperson, Tlaleng Moloi, said.
The bodies (two male and one female) as well as the two dogs were found inside and paramedics who were on the scence declared them all dead. The three people were identified as Hans Roos (68), his wife Susan (62) and their son Hansie (45), The Citizen reported.
The couple were found in their bedroom, with Hansie found in a separate room. He reportedly still lived with his parents. Some sources believe that the Roos family may have all taken their own lives. According to Moloi, the motive behind the loss of lives is still unclear and the case of inquest is still under investigation.
Ian Goslett, chairman of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) in Golfpark, said the Roos family were long-time residents of the neighborhood. “They were very quiet and private.”
