Cape Town – Four people were reportedly shot dead and eight others left injured in a shooting at a tavern in Sweetwaters, Pietermaritzburg on Saturday night.
According to IOL, a group of people were drinking inside the tavern around 20:30 when a vehicle arrived and parked outside.
Two men exited the vehicle, entered the tavern, and opened fire on the patrons.
A total of 12 people were shot.

“Two people were declared dead at the scene and another two died in hospital. Another eight people are still in hospital after they sustained injuries. The deceased are aged between 30 and 45,” the report quoted police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala as saying.
The suspects, according to EWN, fled the scene shortly after the incident.
Charges of murder and attempted murder have been opened, said the report.
