Cape Town – Protesting residents from the Slovo Park community in Soweto, Johannesburg, set a motor vehicle on fire on the N12 highway while blocking traffic in both directions on Monday.
The reason for the protest remains unclear.
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department advised motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes.
“Police are on scene and motorists are being diverted using Golden Highway and Klipspruit Valley Road. Expect heavy delays in the area.
