Cape Town – Snake catcher Sarel van der Merwe rescued a Southern African python that was struggling to move after it had a big meal.
The python was captured in Palm Beach in KwaZulu-Natal.
Van der Merwe shared the moment on his Facebook page, showing pictures of the enormous snake.
He said he got a call about the python after neighborhood dogs alerted residents to the snake.
“Got there and I had to jump over there (their) fence to get to the Python. She was just lying there, as you can see that she had a huge meal for lunch. I think she had a Duiker for lunch,
“Normally when you handle a snake after they ate, they regurgitate their food… Lucky she didn’t,” he wrote.
He said if he hadn’t moved the snake, the neighbours would have made a plan with it, “which is not good”.
The python was safely released at a farm.
