Kwazulu-Natal – Several schoolchildren had an unexpectedly strenuous start to their week as they managed to escape from a vehicle that burst into flames while they were being transported to school on Monday morning.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the incident took place on Neptune Drive in Riet River, KwaZuku-Natal, where their officers were called for assistance.
“On arrival, RUSA Members discovered a VW Microbus engulfed in flames,” RUSA said in a statement.
The driver reportedly informed the officers that he had purchased the vehicle two weeks ago and that it had since been to a panel beater.
According to RUSA, Monday morning was the first day that he used the vehicle to transport children to school when it suddenly burst into flames.
No injuries were reported, and The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
