Cape Town – South African Deputy President David Mabuza reportedly survived a fatal motor vehicle accident on Sunday in Middleburg, Mpumalanga.
Reports indicated that one of his bodyguards died on the scene.
“A convoy of Deputy President David Mabuza was reportedly involved in an accident in Middleburg, Mpumalanga and one of his bodyguards apparently died on the scene but the deputy president wasn’t injured,” tweeted investigative journalist @IamMzilikazi.

News24 reported that Mabuza was being transported from Mbombela in Mpumalanga to Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport, passing through Middelburg, when the accident took place.
“A backup vehicle was damaged, and two other bodyguards were injured. Mabuza’s car was not affected, and he is uninjured,” the report said.
This was the second accident involving Mabuza in recent months.
