Cape Town – Police are looking for three suspects who reportedly robbed and hijacked a police officer who was on duty in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The marked police van was later recovered in Winterveldt, north of Pretoria, reports said.
The hijacked police officer, is an operational commander from Temba police station, reported TimesLIVE.
According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the officer was hijacked when he was taking two victims home after opening cases at the police station, the report said.
“After dropping off the second victim, the commander was accosted by three males who drove with him to Winterveld where they abandoned the vehicle. Police have launched a manhunt for the three suspects,” Mathe was quoted as saying.

Mathe said the commander was robbed of his belongings, IOL reported.
“Police have launched a manhunt for the three suspects and we are calling on members of the public to work together with members of the SAPS to prevent and combat criminality,” the report quoted Mathe as saying.
