Cape Town – A seemingly enjoyable evening with friends took a negative turn for a teenager who had to be rescued after a party near the summit of Lion’s Head in Cape Town over the weekend.
Found in a fetal position, the teen was possibly suffering from dehydration, heat stroke, and intoxication, rescuers said.
Rescue teams quickly responded to the teenager’s aid.
After stabilising him, they carefully harnessed him and guided him down the trail to meet a family member who later drove him home.
David Nel, spokesperson for Wilderness Search And Rescue (WSAR), expressed gratitude that the young individual remained unharmed.
Over 20 rescuers were involved in the incident, with an equal number on standby.
“In total more than 20 rescuers responded to the incident, with as many on standby,” Nel said.
“Our beautiful wilderness spaces are there to be enjoy responsibly. Respect the environment. Be courteous to fellow outdoor enthusiasts and abide by the rules of the park.”
