Cape Town – An accident occurred on Kingsway Road near the University of Johannesburg’s Kingsway campus involving a Metrobus and a Sun Malti Trios Coaches bus on a misty Tuesday morning.
According to Times Live, bloodied shoes were also at the scene near the Metrobus which lay on its side after hitting a concrete wall.
The cause of the accident, whether one of the buses ran a red light, is still under police investigation.
Seventy-seven people were injured in the collision and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Among the injured were 19 students who were on the bus ferrying students between the university’s campuses.
Metrobus, the city’s public transportation service, regrets to report an accident involving one of their single decker buses on Kingsway Road, in front of the University of Johannesburg (UJ) earlier today.

“Preliminary investigations indicate about 19 students were on the bus. Three students were taken to hospital while 16 others are receiving counselling on campus. No fatalities have been reported,” the university said.
“Details about the cause of the accident are a matter of police investigation,” the report quoted UJ spokesperson Herman Esterhuizen as saying.
No fatalities have been reported.
The UJ expressed sadness over the incident and promised to provide necessary medical care and counseling to the affected students.
