Mkhwebane joined the EFF in October last year after she was removed from office following her impeachment. The EFF was one of a handful of parties that argued against her removal of office.
According to Daily Maverick, Good party leader Patricia de Lille will take up the party’s sole seat in the House, after a poor showing in the elections. It is De Lille’s first time as a backbencher since she was a PAC member in the 2000s. She served in President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Cabinet as Minister of Infrastructure and Minister of Tourism after the 2019 elections
The 400 MPs to be sworn in also include former DA federal chairperson Athol Trollip, who will take his seat as a member of Herman Mashaba’s Action SA. Mashaba himself is not going to Parliament, saying he will focus on growing the party nationally.
