Cape Town – The parents of a Grade 6 pupil at Drakensberg Boys Choir School in KwaZulu-Natal, who turned to crowdfunding to raise R 175 000 in school fees to keep their son at the world-renowned school, have reportedly expressed their gratitude for the generosity shown by the public.
The parents, Kagisho and Candice Palangangwe said they were “overwhelmed with the generosity of people” IOL reported.
Ethan Palagangwe, 10, is from Eastridge, Mitchells Plain in Cape Town.
Candice said it “melted their hearts” to see people from across the globe share their story and donate to ensure their son continued “on this beautiful journey”, the report said.
“Ethan comes from a very humble background, his father Kagiso, works in law enforcement and his Mother, Candace works as a teacher’s aid. His hard-working parents want the best for their son, and the sacrifice they make to ensure that Ethan is given every opportunity to achieve his full potential is enormous. They need continued financial support to ensure that Ethan is able to stay at the school that is recognised as a National Treasure,” reads part of the petition.
Kagisho said as a family, they are desperate to keep their son at the school, according to Times Live.
