Cape Town – Convicted killer Oscar Pistorius, three months after his release from prison, is reportedly undertaking voluntary work at a church, sweeping floors.
Pistorius, convicted for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013, had reached out to the International Paralympic Committee for work but was deemed “too toxic”, New York Post reported.
“He’s too toxic to work with now. There’s nothing for him here,” the report quoted one of the members as saying.
The report said that since his release, Pistorius has been residing in his uncle Arnold’s heavily fortified compound in Pretoria’s exclusive Waterkloof suburb.
The compound is equipped with armed guards, electronic defences, and “attack dogs”, the report said.
According to IOL, upon his release, the Department of Correctional Services announced that Oscar Pistorius would be placed under the system of Community Corrections and monitored until the end of his sentence in 2029.
General parole conditions, such as being required to be at home during specific hours and abstaining from alcohol and prohibited substances, would apply to him.
