Cape Town – Holidaymakers face delays at OR Tambo International Airport due to technical issues with the Border Management Authority’s biometric passport control system, resulting in extended queues.
The Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) said on Monday it had deployed extra staff and urged passengers to arrive early.
While technicians worked to resolve the issue, manual processing had been implemented, leading to slower procedures.

“Acsa has deployed additional personnel to assist with passenger movement. Kindly note we are working to expedite the processing procedures. Additionally, we also urge passengers to allow for extra travel time when traveling to the airport,” said Acsa.
This follows last week’s flight delays caused by refuelling challenges and highlights ongoing disruptions affecting South African airports.
