Cape Town — The Border Management Authority (BMA) confirmed that the operations have resumed at the Grobler’s Bridge Border Post in Botswana.
In a statement, the Cross-Border Road Transport Agency (C-BRTA) confirmed that the Port of Entry was closed earlier this month after heavy rains, which led to floods in the surrounding areas.
The BMA said: “the Port of Entry is fully operational and ready to facilitate the movement of goods and people.”
“The C-BRTA would like to thank the BMA, SARS and other Authorities who have played a role in ensuring that the POE is fully operational to allow the facilitation of passengers and goods. The Agency would also like to extend a word of appreciation to the operators for their patience and cooperation in this regard,” it said.

According to SABC News, the BMA’s Deputy Assistant Commissioner for Communication, Mmemme Mogotsi says the closure of the port was to ensure the safety of employees and travellers.
“The flooding necessitated the temporary suspension of services to allow for comprehensive safety measures and assessments of the infrastructure and restoration of flooded facilities. BMA commended the coordinated response of SARS (South African Revenue Services), Border Management officials, border stakeholders as well as the Botswana government,” Mogotsi said.
BMA Commissioner, Michael Masiapato said the safety for all port users was the top priority, The Citizen reported.
“We appreciate the patience and cooperation of the public and transport operators during this challenging period. The swift restoration of operations demonstrates our commitment to ensuring minimal disruption to trade and travel,” he said.
