Cape Town – Operation Dudula leader Nhlanhla “Lux” Dlamini has been granted bail of R1 500, reports said on Monday.
Dlamini appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on charges of housebreaking and malicious damage to property case.
According to News24, Magistrate Ruby Mathys ordered him to surrender his passport and to refrain from contacting the complainant in the case.
Earlier, a large crowd of his supporters demonstrated outside court over what they said was his unfair arrest, EWN reported.
Dlamini was arrested last week on Thursday shortly after leaving the Kaya FM studios where he had been interviewed.
His arrest came after a case was opened against him by Soweto resident, Victor Ramerafe, 59, whose home was allegedly ransacked by members of Operation Dudula.
Dlamini had been detained at the Johannesburg Central police station.
He was expected back in court on May 27, 2022, eNCA reported.
