Cae Town – Police are seeking public assistance in finding a 13-year-old girl, Lizalise Mayi, who went missing in Crossroads on the Cape Flats.
Lizalise left her home on the 24th of last month without informing anyone, spokesperson FC Van Wyk said.
The mother noticed her disappearance upon returning from a funeral, with the last sighting of Lizalise wearing black jeans and a hoodie.
“According to reports, the mother of Lizalise left the residence to attend a funeral when she left her inside the house and her other child was playing next door. When she later returned, she noticed that the door of the residence was open, and was informed by the other daughter that Lizalise walked down the street without saying anything. At the time of her disappearance she was seen wearing a black jean and a hoody,” said Van Wyk.
This isn’t the first time she has gone missing, as a similar incident occurred in May 2023.
This comes as the search continues for six-year-old Joshlin Smith, missing in Saldanha on the West Coast since February 19.
Joslin was allegedly left in the care of her mother’s boyfriend at the time of her disappearance.
#PoliceMinistry The Police Ministry has assured the community of Diazville in the Western Cape, where Joslin Smith went #missing, that police remain committed to finding the six year old and reuniting her with her family. MEhttps://t.co/Xoenr1GYMp pic.twitter.com/yYCcOwImju
