Cape Town – On Friday, Mpumalanga police arrested a 39-year-old man in connection with the murder of Hillary Gardee, 28.
Hillary, a daughter of former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) secretary-general Godrich Gardee, went missing on April 29 after a shopping trip to a Spar near her home in Mbombela, Mpumalanga.
A search was conducted by the police. She was found dead on May 3 in a field outside Mbombela, Mpumalanga.

Hillary had a bullet wound on her head, according to Times Live.
“We did affect one arrest. The investigation is still continuing…As the police, we are saying ‘ we are cracking this case, we are there, we are doing what is right and we are going to be getting every information to ensure that if possible more arrests are going to be affected,” said Mpumalanga police commissioner Semakaleng Daphney Manamela.

The suspect was found hiding at a place in Schoemansdal, south of Mpumalanga.
He will appear before the Nelspruit Magistrates Court on Monday facing a charge of murder.
“As the family, we welcome the arrest. And we are thankful that the police were able to meet their own target of informing us of something concrete within 72 hours. It’s a commitment that must be commended,” News24 quoted EFF and family spokesperson Sinawo Thambo as saying.
