Cape Town – One lucky winner is starting the new year on a very good note after reportedly bagging a whopping R73 million in Tuesday’s Power jackpot.
The winner won R72 989.37 from the January 10 draw.
IOL reported that the winner became the first Powerball jackpot multimillionaire for 2023.
According to the National Lottery Ithuba, the Powerball jackpot had rolled over 12 times, said the report.
Meanwhile, according to The South African, Tuesday’s PowerBall Plus draw saw no winner of its R40 million jackpot.
The five PowerBall Plus numbers drawn were (in numerical order): 6, 12, 25, 33, 42 and the Powerball number itself was 2, the report said.

The R72.9 million jackpot winner joins other Powerball jackpot winners who became multimillionaires such as a Durban resident who bagged close to R74 million jackpot in November.
The next Powerball draw will take place on Friday, January 13 where R6 million jackpot is expected to be up for grabs.
The Powerball Plus jackpot will be a massive R42 million.
