Cape Town – Several shootings in Alexandra, Gauteng have reportedly sparked a shutdown, as the situation is getting tense.
According to eNCA, a series of shootings recently took place in the area, resulting in five people dead, and five others wounded.
The shootings occurred in various parts of Alexandra.
Among those killed was popular Alex FM music manager Joshua Mbatha, who was shot in the chest by gunmen who had robbed him and two colleagues of their shoes and cell phones.

The South African reported that a taxi driver was also a victim of the shootings.
The report said that the Amster and ATA taxi associations in the area were now leading a shutdown in town, blocking roads and bringing traffic to a halt.
“Police are searching for unknown armed suspects after five people were fatally shot and five injured at different places in Alexandra on Thursday, 14 July 2022. It is alleged that about four armed suspects went on to rob and shoot people in the area,” the report quoted the police as saying.
