Cape Town – Radio personality Anele Mdoda took to social media on Tuesday to denounce the alleged racially-motivated incident that took place at Jan Viljoen Hoerskool in Randfontein, Westrand, Johannesburg recently.
It is alleged that a group of white students were caught in between a racial slur with their fellow black students in a video clip that has been circulating all over social media.
According to SowetanLive, a pupil who was involved in the scuffle said a group of black Grade 8 pupils had been listening to music during their lunch break when they were approached by white schoolmates who told them to stop playing “your kaff*r music here”.

“This is easy Hoerskool Jan Viljoen, if your kids don’t want to go to school with black kids, pack your shit and leave South Africa. We are not going to negotiate with racists anymore. Piss off!” said Anele.

Anele said that no child knows how to hate, it is their parents who teach them animosity towards each other.
“And if your shitty child calls kids kaffirs and school it’s you we are coming after. No 12 year old knows hate. You teach them to hate. Leave!!! Just leave the country and never come back. Swine,” she said.

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi visited the institution to obtain a report from the school leadership on the incident that allegedly occurred.
In a statement released by his department he condemned the alleged racism at the school.
“Racism and other forms of discrimination should be eliminated. The incident at the school reflects deep-seated racist attitudes in our schools and community. We must grasp this opportunity to ensure that the school is fully transformed and is a safe and welcoming space for all people regardless of their race, class and religion. We appeal to everyone to give this process and opportunity not incite violence,” said Lesufi.
SABC said that the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has launched an investigation into the alleged racially-motivated clashes between the black and white learners.
“We have decided to investigate the allegations of unfair discrimination and racism at the school as well as the voice note being circulated on social media where learners are being called the so-called gay word,” the report quoted SAHRC Commissioner Andre Gaum as saying.
On Monday, parents and other groups protested outside the school with placards written “No to racism”.
Schooling at the school remains suspended for now following the alleged incident.

#janviljoen is a perfect example of the way educators have failed students of colour in SA
school should be a safe place for kids to focus on getting their education. if kids are constantly facing racism and micro-agressions then school is no longer a safe place
