Johannesburg – A 55-year-old Nigerian national was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on Tuesday, March 4, for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into South Africa.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), the suspect had just arrived from São Paulo, Brazil, when he was intercepted by law enforcement officers.
“A medical x-ray revealed that the mule had swallowed multiple objects suspected to be bullets containing cocaine.

“The suspect, who is still releasing bullets, is expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court this week,” said the police.
The arrest comes just weeks after two other drug mules were apprehended at the same airport in a separate incident. Police seized cocaine worth an estimated R7.5 million in that case.
