Cape Town – Dr Nandipha Magudumana’s bail request has been rejected by the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court.
She will be held in custody pending further proceedings.
“The applicant is a flight risk and no bail conditions will assist. I find that she didn’t satisfy the court that she be released on bail,” Magistrate Estelle De Lange said handing down her judgment.

Magudumana made her initial bail application two weeks ago, following her arrest in April.
She was taken into custody alongside her partner, Thabo Bester, a convicted rapist and murderer who had feigned his own death at the Mangaung Correctional Centre and managed to escape in May of the previous year.
Allegedly, Magudumana played a pivotal role in orchestrating and coordinating Bester’s escape, with the prosecution labelling her as the mastermind behind the operation.
“#DrNandiphaMagudumana‘s children are with their father. It’s sad that children should be separated from their mother, but this is also a choice that was exercised by the applicant when she left the country with accused number 5 (#ThaboBester).”- Magistrate Estelle de Lange pic.twitter.com/OPLpSAc01C
