Cape Town – Mzansi has been left with mixed emotions after Flysafair announced that their R9 tickets which formed part of its 2023 mega sale were sold out.
This year the airline launched its annual sale with 50 000 tickets under the theme “The Lucky R9 Sale”.
The ticket sale was opened at 09:00 and sold out by 14:00 on Wednesday.
“Wow, what a rush! Our Lucky R9 Sale is sadly over. Congrats to all those lucky fishes who managed to get R9 tickets. Tell us where you will be heading,” tweeted the airline.

According to BusinessTech, the airline is no stranger to bargain ticket sales, seeing over 100 000 passengers grab seats for between R1 and R8 in the previous group sales.
The report said the R9 ticket price was in celebration of the group’s nine years of operations.
Meanwhile, hopeful passengers who camped on the airline’s website hoping to get their hands on the bargain cried foul while some were lucky enough to get more than one ticket.

But the algorithm is rigged. You can get a departure flight but no return.

Some of us were in the queue from 7am and didn’t get anything , I’m starting to doubt the whole 50 000 tickets story cause there’s just no way

I’ll forever be grateful to you. As a student who is more than 2000km away from home, this is the best thing. I’ll be heading to Durban from Cape Town
