Cape Town — Police are investigating the death of former Police Executive Member, Nkosinathi Theledi, who was found dead inside his vehicle last week on Thursday.
In a statement, the South African Police Services (SAPS) confirmed that Theledi left his house in Gauteng on 31 July on his way to Standerton. Family members attempted to contact him but were unsuccessful.
He was reported missing at Norkem Park in Gauteng.
The family sought assistance through a car tracker service provider and the vehicle was found in Sundra. Police and paramedics arrived on the scene, but Theledi was certified dead.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim’s two cell phones, wrist-watch, as well his shoes were missing from the scene. Additionally, Mr. Theledi displayed signs of physical trauma, including bruises and evidence of bleeding,” police spokesperson, Donald Mdhluli, said.
Acting Police Commissioner in Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, was concerned over Theledi’s tragic death and said a team of investigators had been put together to pursue leads and uncover the truth.
“We strongly condemn this incident and are committed to leaving no stone unturned in our pursuit of justice,” stated General Mkhwanazi.
