Cape Town – The heartless killing of prophet Dwayne Gordon, 22, in front of approximately 100 worshippers in Newlands, Johannesburg, on Friday night, has been characterised as a senseless and wicked act.
Gordon, who was a guest pastor at Eagle Christian Church on the day, was tragically killed, and three fellow congregants suffered injuries when a group of armed men forcibly entered the church and began shooting.
The harrowing incident was captured on a live stream that quickly circulated on social media. At the time of the attack, Pastor Gordon’s sermon was being broadcast on the church’s social media platform.
In his final moments, Pastor Gordon expressed gratitude, saying: “Thank you so much, Mervyn, for allowing me on your platform and granting me the opportunity to minister.”

According to EWN, he was shot and killed, reportedly after making eye contact with one of the assailants.
The community, plagued by drugs and crime, has been deeply affected by the tragedy.
Gordon’s family in Randfontein declined to comment, but a statement is expected, the report said.
A local pastor highlighted the high crime and drug issues in the area, expressing shock at the brutality of the crime, describing it as “unheard of and uncalled for”.
Gordon’s funeral is scheduled for the coming week, said the report.
