Cape Town – The Multi-Party Charter, comprising seven political parties, has formally reached a consensus to unite in preparation for the 2024 general elections.
This decision follows their alignment on crucial policies.
The coalition includes the Democratic Alliance (DA), Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), ActionSA, Freedom Front Plus, Spectrum National Party, United Independent Movement, and Independent South African National Organisation (Isanco)
After a two-day national convention at the Emperor’s Palace in Kempton Park, they reached agreements on key policies and power-sharing principles.

Notably, the parties have decided not to work with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) or the African National Congress (ANC).
The coalition will maintain individual identities while collaborating, and they will use a merit-based approach to appoint individuals for government positions.
They will also avoid concentrating power in one party across different government branches.
The coalition will reassess the structure of the Cabinet, aiming to reduce its current size.
Leaders of the involved parties publicly signed the coalition agreement, marking a historic step towards the upcoming elections.
