Cape Town — The Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK) Party has reportedly praised Louis Liebenberg as a symbol of loyalty for his unwavering support of party leader and former president Jacob Zuma despite his recent arrest.
Liebenberg, a well-known Zuma supporter, faces charges along with eight others related to an alleged Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors of billions.
He made headlines for his financial backing of Zuma, including pledging R500,000 for Zuma’s private prosecution and reportedly giving around R10 million for his Nkandla homestead, IOL reported.

According to Daily Maverick, Liebenberg, his wife Desiree, and seven associates appeared in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, facing multiple charges of fraud, money laundering, and racketeering.
The group included former colleagues and business partners tied to Liebenberg’s diamond trading operations, the report said.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the Hawks alleged that the group orchestrated a scheme through Tariomix, trading as Forever Diamonds and Gold, defrauding investors of R4 billion.
The investigation, which began in 2019, led to their arrests this week. The accused face a total of 42 counts of fraud, five of racketeering, and six of money laundering, along with various other legal violations.
As he entered the dock for his court appearance on Thursday, Liebenberg exclaimed, “Viva Msholozi, viva MK!”
