Cape Town – The MK Party has expressed disappointment after the Gauteng South High Court dismissed its urgent application to halt Judicial Service Commission (JSC) interviews without impeached judge John Hlophe.
Hlophe, barred from participating due to misconduct, was interdicted following legal action by the Democratic Alliance, Corruption Watch, and Freedom Under Law.
The MK Party argued the decision to exclude Hlophe was irrational and warned of controversy surrounding the upcoming judicial appointments.
“The MK is naturally disappointed with the outcome of the urgent application in the Johannesburg High Court.

“The MK Party applied to court to nullify the irrational decision of the JSC which has stubbornly refused to postpone next week’s interview, pending various related court processes so as to avoid the inevitable controversy and cloud which will hang over the judicial appointments made in this round of interviews,” MK Party spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela said in a statement on Satureday.
Despite the ruling, the MKP plans to pursue legal and political consultations while JSC interviews proceed without Hlophe this week.
