Cape Town – A hiker’s body was found on the Otter Trail in Tsitsikamma, Garden Route National Park, after he was reported missing by his group.
SANParks, along with NSRI and SAPS, conducted a search despite challenging weather conditions, leading to the recovery of the deceased.

“The hiker was reported missing by his hiking group after he went ahead during their hike and was last seen at approximately 13:00 on the second last day of the trail. He did not arrive at the last overnight hut.
“SANParks Rangers, joined by National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), began a search yesterday around 15:43 despite unfavorable weather conditions, large swells and swollen rivers. By nightfall, there was no sign of the missing man. The search resumed at first light today with the support of SAPS and Police Search and Rescue teams. Unfortunately, the hiker was found deceased,” a statement said.
