Johannesburg – Metrobus announced that it is resuming services again following a wildcat strike that left many commuters without transport to work and school.
The company announced yesterday that it was dealing with an illegal strike that affected services on Thursday. The company said the drivers were disgruntled by wage issues and shift selections. Later it released a new statement announcing that services resumed again on Friday morning.
“Following a marathon engagement session with labour, management is pleased to informed commuters as follows: All Metrobus shifts will resume as normal-early shift tomorrow. Although further engagements are ongoing with labour, it is anticipated that normal operations will continue,” the company said.
According to Metrobus’ Tshepo Nathan, all routes are now fully operational once again, EWN reported.
“Following disruption in our services since the afternoon of Wednesday, we have now resumed services, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused to our commuters,” Nathan confirmed
