Cape Town – Cape Town police are reportedly investigating the latest mass shooting incident that killed three men and left four others injured on Sunday.
According to IOL, unknown men stormed a traditional ceremony at a house in Gugulethu on Saturday and allegedly shot at people who were in one room of the house before they fled.
Police spokesperson Andrè Traut said two of the victims were aged 38 and 40, while the third victim’s age was still unknown.
“A fourth victim was shot and wounded and admitted to hospital for treatment,” the report quoted Traut as saying.
Police were investigating circumstances that lead to the incident.
No arrests had been made, the report said.
This was not the first mass shooting incident in Gugulethu.
In July last year, three men were reportedly arrested a year after eight people were shot at a traditional cleansing ceremony in NY 79 in Gugulethu, reported EWN.
The suspects, Thabo Dyasi, Sivuyile Matoti and Lundi Zweni were from the Philippi East and Gugulethu communities, the report said.
The report said they were charged with eight counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, three counts of the illegal possession of firearms and one count of the illegal possession of ammunition.
