Cape Town – Police in Ficksburg, Free State, are hunting for suspects after a farm shooting left an 11-year-old boy dead and six adults injured.
According to police, two unidentified suspects fled the scene in an unspecified vehicle following the incident at 9:50 pm on Sunday.
“Two armed men arrived at the farm… and started shooting at farm dwellers at two houses on the farmstead without uttering a word to the occupants inside the houses.
“The suspects fled the scene on foot and got into an unknown car that was parked on the side of R26 road near the farmstead.
“It was discovered later on the arrival of police and emergency personnel that an 11-year-old minor was shot and died instantly on the scene,” said spokesperson Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring.
The motive remains unclear, but authorities are investigating the incident as murder and attempted murder.
