Cape Town — EFF leader, Julius Malema, has urged older voters to stop voting for the ANC and IFP due to their previous loyalty to former leaders, Nelson Mandela and Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
Mandela and Buthelezi were Apartheid stalwarts and played key leadership roles in South Africa’s fight for democracy. However, Malema has implored the elderly voters, who were staunch supporters of Mandela’s ANC and Buthelezi’s IFP, to allow the former great leaders to rest in peace, TimesLIVE reported.
“The elders, we implore you, don’t do what you did in previous elections by saying ‘we are voting for Mandela, we are voting for Shenge’. They are no longer there, allow them to rest in peace,” Malema said.
Malema was speaking at John Dube Stadium in Inanda, outside Durban, as part of the EFF’s campaign trail in KZN. He urged KZN citizens to not vote for the ANC and made clear distinctions between Mandela, and current ANC President, Cyril Ramaphosa.
President @Julius_S_Malema says Ramaphosa was the one who said government does not create jobs but now he’s conveniently changed the tune because it’s elections.

“There is no Mandela who stole money and put it in the mattress and sofa, there is no Mandela who stole Covid food parcels, they dug a million of graves for us during Covid because they said we were going to die, we survived ANC attempted murder. On May 29 you must remind them you wanted to bury us but (now) we are going to bury you,” he said.
He also warned voters to be wary of the ANC’s promises of jobs, the availability of electricity and the recently signed National Health Insurance (NHI) Act.
Malema promised that the EFF would ensure access to land, decent housing, free education, decent healthcare and jobs. He promised the EFF government would provide clinics that will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week in every ward, with an ambulance per clinic and hospitals with adequate medicine.
Malema’s campaign trail continued as he convened two community meetings in Pietermaritzburg and Newcastle.
