Cape Town – A 60-year-old man from Fontainebleau, Randburg, was arrested after 18 stolen boats and 19 trailers were found on his business premises.
In a statement, police said they received information about a second-hand dealer selling boats and trailers with tampered vehicle identification numbers.
Police in co-operation with members of the Provincial Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit, Tracker Connect, and Provincial Head Office reservists went on to check out the said business premises in Linden.
They found 18 boats and 19 trailers with Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) tampered with. In addition, they also found stencils that are suspected to be used for installing new VINs.

The 60-year-old was arrested on charges of fraud, contravention of Second Hand Goods, and contravention of Road Traffic Act and more charges might be added.
He was expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court.
