Cape Town – A man from KwaZulu-Natal won over R21 million in the PowerBall Plus jackpot on his second try using a modest R37.50 wager on the FNB app with a set of manually chosen numbers.
Initially unsuccessful, he used the same numbers for the draw on May 21.
Upon winning, he verified his ticket multiple times, overwhelmed with disbelief and excitement.
“I had used the same numbers in a previous draw without success. I decided to stick with the same numbers for the draw on Tuesday, May 21. When my bank notified me of my win, I must have checked my ticket at least 30 times to ensure it wasn’t a dream,” said the winner.
Despite his newfound wealth, he has no plans to retire but looks forward to travelling to destinations previously out of reach.
“Winning the PowerBall plus jackpot has brought immense happiness to my family and becoming a multimillionaire is a dream come true,” he said.
Ithuba CEO Charmaine Mabuza expressed joy over players using diverse platforms, while FNB Connect CEO Sashin Sookroo congratulated the winner, emphasising the convenience of their digital services.
